PHB p.147 “If the weapon is a melee weapon, you use the same ability modifier for that attack roll and damage roll that you would use for a melee attack with the weapon.”
So you can use your str instead dex. Total will be +10
@gaaran00bwhat do you do if you get proficiency in a tool from 2 places, like Rogue + Urchin/criminal regarding thieves tools swap second one with tool or skill of your choice
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) June 28, 2015
@skaughtbowden @gaaran00bDoes this also apply if you had disguise kit as entertainer background, then chose rogue: assassin at level 3? IMO, yes, I'd let player make another choice. Not 100% sure that's rule as written

@JeremyECrawford if a PC is polymorphed into a troll (by polymorph spell) does PC retain languages, or can only speak giant?
— David Pozorski (@DavidPozorski) July 7, 2015
If transformed by the true polymorph spell, the creature would speak what the new form speaks. https://t.co/Tm8MEOc4do

@ChrisPerkinsDnD Any ideas on how to spice up my Sunday night encounter? Theme: Arctic Pirates.
— Duragar Ironroc (@Dvergr76) July 3, 2015
Snow elves on tauntauns help the party battle pirates on ice skates. Or maybe a frost giant on a humongous walrus. https://t.co/df65C4kH4d

@ChrisPerkinsDnD @Dvergr76 Really hope this is a sneak preview of our upcoming campaign, Chris.

@KarlDotenswineWhat does the sentnce refer to under mods on pg 194 PHB “Weapons that have the finesse or throw property breaks this rule”?
It refers to the previous sentence.

Concentration = major limit. One buff at a time, plus they go away when hit.
Granted, it would probably help if the DM didn't keep hitting me for 40+ damage. #dnd5e @Trevor_WotC @mikemearls @JeremyECrawford
— Erik Scott de Bie (@erikscottdebie) July 11, 2015
@erikscottdebie Getting clobbered that hard would make it hard for just about anyone to concentrate! @Trevor_WotC @mikemearls
