#dnd tip for writers: sidebars in adventures can be useful, but don't overuse them. If the DM couldn't run the adventure without the sidebar, that information belongs in the regular text. Keep them short, informative, and on point–always with a purpose.

How do you manage/organize your NPCs?
Settling in to build an excel spreadsheet for the NPCs of my #dnd campaign. Tell me, DMs and GMs among you: how do you manage/organize your NPCs?
@TychoBrahe, @ChrisPerkinsDnD, @matthewmercer, @satinephoenix, and others, any wisdom? very simple lists with a primary motivation and two adjectives.— Tycho Brahe (@TychoBrahe) December 20, 2018
Add to that one secret or quirk.
Also, if you had a particular actor/character in mind as the model or inspiration for your NPC, put that in your spreadsheet. Easy to remember “Doc Brown from Back to the Future.” #NPCs #wotcstaff https://t.co/wrrwHJ4RFj

How different is 5e Sharn from the 3.5e Sharn: City of Towers?
hey, guys, how different is 5E Sharn from the 3.5 Sharn: City of Towers? #E The city is the same, as far as I know. The Wayfinder’s Guide explores different aspects of the city, but I don’t think it contradicts the 3.5 Sharn sourcebook.

No, the Wayfinder’s Guide doesn’t advance the timeline.

The skill challenge rules feel robust enough to handle simple combats
The skill challenge rules feel robust enough to handle simple combats, so I think they are hitting the notes I’m aiming for. Idea is to allow for a quick combat system where the PCs are certains to win, but system determines cost of victory or complications.
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) December 19, 2018
Why not include the option of complications or costs EVEN if players win?
That way the drama is ramped up! yes, that is the intent! Assumes they win, test is to see how cleanly.

“The dragon ate the wyvern and now in yonder cavern lurks”
The dragon ate the wyvern and now in yonder cavern lurks
Awaiting dessert in the form of adventurers of renown
Thence strode the Crown Prince, known for his good works
So will the wyrm whole-swallow him down
Or upchuck that nasty pointy crown?— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) September 24, 2018
Stab, O stab, the monster hairy
Fill, O fill the blood-offering bowl
For my ritual will make slayers strong and merry
Though getting rich is by far their preferred goal— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) September 24, 2018
Such a battle! Soon there’ll be a winner
If it’s the goblins, the humans’ll be dinner
And their king’s dreams of empire then and there’ll go POP
But then, every imperial dream seems to go best when it’s brought to a sudden…

What canonically happens to souls that are contested between two powers?
Only priests, paladins, and fanatics are devoted to one deity in the Realms. Everyone believes in all deites, and worships (even if only lip-service, now and then) most of them. So if an individual is devoted to one deity, that deity would have the strongest claim on their soul.
