Hey @matthewmercer @mattcolville @mikemearls could you boost the signal for a long-time DM, #smallyoutuber and aspiring worldbuilder? Sometimes hard to be seen.https://t.co/IBS2bMoqsN #dnd

The next time someone responds to RPG criticism with “why not just change it for your home game”…
Descriptive games breed hacking, personalization, and ownership. Feature, not bug.

Completely! It’s just irritating when I say “there is a problem with this system” and people say “just change the rules!” I don’t wanna fix a leak I wanna know why my transmission is defective. It’s hard to have those conversations in public – everyone has different limits and goals. I’ve been thinking about streaming playtest games, then doing a vid where we break down what went wrong.
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) August 5, 2018
We don’t have a critical language or framework for breaking down why we design. The how and what have been solved… like a billion times. People focus on that.

Do Warforged count as “wearing armor” for the purposes of the defense fighting style?
Ruty, just thought of another thing; do Warforged count as “wearing armor” for the purposes of the defense fighting style? Release day RAW, the answer is “No”. As long as the line “You gain no benefit from wearing armor” remains a part of their build (and it likely should) any benefit that requires wearing armor is null, regardless of whether they are considered to be wearing armor or not.

However, we have tossed around a few different approaches for warforged composite plating, and this is the option the #dnd team picked and playtesting will ultimately decide. You, and your table, should make your thoughts known. As objectively as possible, of course.

Can I cast a first level or higher spell and cast a reaction spell in the same round of combat?
can I cast a first level or higher spell (eg Magic Missiles) and, if the situation permits, cast a reaction spell (eg Shield) in the same round of combat?Yes

Can Warforged use the Bracers of Defense?
Excuse me Mr. Baker. Since warforged technically do not wear armor. Can they use the Bracers of Defense? But since they are made of armor will it still work? While a warforged is using the darkwood core defense mode it is considered to be unarmored for purposes of class abilities, magic items, and other effects.

The Church of the Silver Flame discourages resurrection. What’s the consequence of it becoming stronger?
The CotSF discourages resurrection because the faithful join the Flame. Those who join it make it stronger. What’s the consequence of it becoming stronger? Could it end up kicking some overlord butt? Possibly. But consider that as the population grows, there are also more people CALLING on the Silver Flame; its power HAS to grow in order to meet these ever-increasing demands while still maintaining the bonds of the Overlords.

Warforged armor in Wayfinder’s Guide to Eberron allows new proficiencies
HellcowKeith’s #Eberron panel. Warforged armor in WG allows new proficiencies, w/o starting wizards in full plate. Will be limiting size of embedded warforged tools (no more Transformers, unless you want them). Warforged have souls. Though to clarify… *I* would limit size of warforged integrated tools; that may not be the final official approach.

How does healing a Warforged work?
Healing warforged works in the same way healing any other PC would. That is one rule from the older editions that we are currently excluding.
