What are your thoughts on non-random initiative methods? I've used them a fair amount, especially when managing large groups. In that case, less chaos makes the table much easier to manage.

Do you think that Gary Gygax would like how far D&D has come?
@mikemearls hey Mike. Big fan of you and huge fan of 5e. Do you think, in your personal opinion, that gary would like how far D&D has come? Or would he think it's too complex compared to the original idea?
— The Last Noel (@moreLions) May 20, 2018
I dunno … look at Gary’s own later designs with Dangerous Journeys and Lejendary Adventures. Both allow for extreme character customization. Even Gary's own speculation about 2nd Edition (Dragon 103, Nov '85) he talked about adding more specialized sub-classes, specifically mentioning mystic (cleric), savant (magic-user), and jester (bard).

I wonder how much of that was based on what people told him they wanted, versus his own preferences. I know he found 3e to be too superheroic and video gamey.

How does Distant Spell interact with spells with cone or line ranges?
@JeremyECrawford How does Distant Spell interact with spells with cone or line ranges? E.g. Lightning Bolt's range of self (100ft.)? With the 'self' being the point of origin, is the range doubled? Thanks! #DnD
— (just) charlie (@Charlie3432) June 11, 2018
Distant Spell works only on a spell that has either a range of 5 feet or more or a range of touch. If a spell's Range entry says "Self," the spell doesn't qualify. #DnD https://t.co/OuGI7zBgXq

Which Volo Guides did you plan to write after Dalelands?
yesterday I was reading (again) Volo’s Guide to the Dalelands, so magical 🧙♂️ ! Which Guides did you plan to write after this one? I wonder of one about Westgate! Heh. Long list. Impiltur. Chessenta, same reason. The Heartlands Run (Secomber and Loudwater down and along the trade-roads east to Cormyr). The Dragon Coast (Teziir and Starmantle and all of the non-Cormyrean ports, incl. Westgate). Sembia. The Vast. The Tashalar…and so on!

I hope she comes to love the Realms. :} Beautiful, dangerous…and thanks to being something of our shared imagination, in many ways better than the real world. That list is incomplete, of course; it was my intention to cover the entire world of Toril eventually. And update, too.

Now I need a Volo’s Cookbook. Why? There's only one Volo. Once he's been roasted or fricassed, there'll be none left for anyone else.
(Just KIDDING. I started to write one, but it got nixed in the TSR days because company resources were getting scarce and needed for more "gamer-useful" products.— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) May 14, 2018
“Two castles, alike in towering majesty”
1)
“Two castles, alike in towering majesty,” the herald proclaimed, “that of the sinister-swordarm knights on the left, fittingly, whilst that on the right is home to the dexter-swordarm knights.”#epic fantasy— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) June 8, 2018
2)
“You sure?” one of the crowd asked hesitantly. “The banners seem to suggest otherwise.”
The herald scowled, squinted up at the pennants flapping on both battlements, then sighed. “Spittle of the gods, I’m standing on the wrong side. Again.”#epic fantasy— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) June 8, 2018
3)
“Fool of a herald!” an old man snarled. “You could start a war that way.”
“Too late,” said the herald. “Some of the knights made the same mistake, in the dark heart of a foggy night. Wrong beds, so…wrong wives.”
The crowd winced aloud.#epic fantasy— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) June 8, 2018
4)
“Some of whom didn’t want the mistake set right,” the herald added, “which set them at odds with those who did. It escalated from there.”
“How many dead?”
“Wives, eight. Thus far.”#epic fantasy— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) June 8, 2018
5)
“No knights, though there probably will be casualties when their wives find out they’ve been wagering on the frays. Without sharing any of the takings.”
“They’re IDIOTS,” someone in the crowd muttered.
The herald smiled. “As I said. Knights, remember?”#epic fantasy— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) June 8, 2018
