#dnd tip for DMs: consider the political environment your characters work in. Even if you run an apolitical game, there are plot threads and story beats waiting to be used by just thinking about power systems surrounding the PCs.

If you are allowing inspiration to be used as rerolls instead of advantage, that is more powerful than the rules intended
#dnd tip for DMs: if you are allowing inspiration to be used as rerolls instead of advantage, that is more powerful than the rules intended. That's OK, unless you are having trouble challenging your players or they feel underwhelmed. That's one quick fix to help.

When did you start writing the Forgotten Realms?
I started writing about the Realms when I was five. Yes, 5. Just for my own entertainment. About a decade before D&D. My Dad started "publishing" my efforts by taking them to his co-workers, and they started asking for more (this scene, and that).

Hilarity when a sex scene was finally requested, and my father had to remind them, "My son is SIX."

How long would it take (provided one didnt get distracted or stopped along the way), from the South Gate, up The High Road to the Northern Gate leaving the Field Ward heading towards The Sword Mtns. Trying to get a sense of scale of the Deep Depends on time of year (snow and ice, or not? Crammed-full city, or just those who stay in winter?), time of day (after midnight? or rush hour?), and weather (raining hard, or not?). It can take half a day to traverse the Deep north-south. If you take back streets, and pick…

..your time of day, it can be done in 2 hours without hurrying. At night, carrying lanterns in a large party with Watch escort so you won't get stopped by the Watch, you might manage it in 40 minutes.

“WHAT is that terrible screaming and CRASHING noise?”

“WHAT is that terrible screaming and CRASHING noise?”
“Knights being hurled off the battlements. Your father’s having a bad day.”
“But—but those knights are my friends! And LOVERS!”
“Don’t let your father hear you admit that,…#epic fantasy— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) October 7, 2018

… dear. He’s old-fashioned about such things.”
“What? But he has HUNDREDS of lovers! Every woman he likes the look of!”
“And if you bedded every woman he liked the look of, he probably wouldn’t mind. …#epic fantasy It’s that they’re MEN, dear. You see, he is one. He knows how useless they truly are.”
“They’re not useless. They DO have their uses. Well, one use.”
“Agreed. Reckless, then.”
“Well, some may be, but my knights? Reckless?”#epic fantasy— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) October 7, 2018

“They bedded an unwed princess, didn’t they? And her mother? Under the nose of the man they knew the King to be? Reckless.”
“‘And her MOTHER’? Mother! How COULD you?”
“Daughter! How COULD YOU? Want to go round again?”#epic fantasy “You’re HOPELESS!”
“Precisely how I described you to your father.”
“And what did he say?”
“You do NOT want to know. Let’s just say that if you’d been a knight and not his daughter, he’d have had higher battlements built.”#epic fantasy— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) October 7, 2018

Always keep in mind that the PCs might capture and question an enemy
#dnd tip for writers: always keep in mind that the PCs might capture and question an enemy. Give the DM options for that contingency. Similarly, never assume the characters won't kill an NPC with important information. Because they will. Horribly. With glee and gusto.

How much treasure does Klauth have laying around?
I've been expanding on Klauth in my game and have been wondering about how much treasure does Klauth have laying around? #DungeonsAndDragons @ChrisPerkinsDnD @TheEdVerse @SageAdviceDnD #DnD5E #DnD
— LuciferTheLich (@DmLucifer) November 8, 2018
Klauth has hidden treasure caches all over his demesne (its mapshould still be on the Wizards website: Wyrms of the North archive) as well as his "main" lair. He's a wily veteran who's been piling up the loot for a LONG time (including raking in the hoards of dragons he's slain).
