Follow-up question: do typical deities stick with humanoids of the Material Plane exclusively for their Clerics, or have they sometimes picked any “outsiders”? I’m assuming besides Aberration creatures and their gods, cuz that’s a huge can of worms to open, I’m sure. Deities sometimes select outsiders as clerics, but in the main, clerics seem to work best (in the divine view) when they're of the same species as the worshippers they're representing the deity to. If the observed behaviour of the last few centuries in the Realms can be trusted.

“She danced with bright shining style”
She danced with bright shining style, she danced with such grace
But when she sword-danced with the dragon, it sent her to a better place— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) March 11, 2019
They flee, they flee, hear them wail and shriek
For they have heard their doom
The idol in the temple has finally deigned to speak
And it seems it’ll be standing room only in the tomb— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) March 11, 2019

“So how much unrest HAVE you been through?”
1)
“So let’s get riding. Yes, this spot now has a privy, but we’ve tarried here too long. The visitations are going to become so frequent as to be bothersome.”
“Armies, you mean.”#epic fantasy— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) March 12, 2019
2)
“And mobs. Both angry and marauding, and fleeing and desperate.”
“There’s a difference?”
“Of course. And when you’ve been through as much unrest as I have, you learn to appreciate the nuances.”#epic fantasy 3)
“Indeed, Elvar. it’s all about the nuances.”
“So how much unrest HAVE you been through?”
“Too much. I’d have to consult the rolls, but it works out to several skirmishes per season.”
“What? Your Majesty, forgive my blunt…#epic fantasy— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) March 12, 2019
4)
…speech, but such frequency bespeaks a lack of firm leadership.”
“Mistress of Disguises mine, kings do not lead. Kings RULE. Meaning, they send others to lead. Some idiots with limited understandings of the world as it… #epic fantasy 5)
…truly is call such leaders ‘heroes.’”
“That’s rather cynical, Sire.”
“Cynicism is the daily grease of kings, lady.”
“Oh, so in the end—forgive the pun, ’tisn’t fully intended—it all comes down to lube, does it?”#epic fantasy— Ed Greenwood (@TheEdVerse) March 12, 2019
Do people in the Forgotten Realms ever name their children after gods, demigods, prophets or famous religious figures?
Good day Mr. Greenwood. 🙂 Do people in the realms ever name their children after gods, demigods, prophets or famous religious figures? All the time. Hence Torm of the Knights of Myth Drannor (named after Torm the deity). TSR edited most instances of this out of the published Realms to dispel confusion.#Realmslore

What would happen if Overlord were thrown into a well of annihilation?
Mr Baker may I ask you a question? In Eberron, if an oveord were to escape his or her prison. What would happen if they were thrown into a well of annihilation? Would they be destroyed with no possibility of reforming? It might work, but the next question is what the consequences of doing that would be. Part of the reason the Overlords can't be destroyed is because they are part of the spiritual architecture of the world; in doing this you'd be tearing a hole in the soul of the world.

Rak Tulkhesh is the manifestation of aggression and war. Either it can't be destroyed, because ongoing aggression will cause it to reform… or you completely destroy the concept of aggression in mortals, which could have vast unforeseen consequences.
