If you’re the DM, does that still count as you “playing” D&D?

  1. D. Walker says:

I’m willing to concede that the DM is technically a player, but as a habitual DM, I absolutely draw a stark distinction between the two roles, and I sometimes think to myself “Man, I just want to -play- some D&D, rather than -run- some D&D”.

It’s sort of like if you play an MMO, and you’re always stuck being a tank or a healer. Yes, it’s playing the game, and yes, it’s fun, but after a while you want to switch things up and play the different (and easier / less work) role of a DPS.
