Given the otherwise “living in harmony with nature” thing of elves, why would they build crypts to inter their dead, instead of something more natural? Wild elves do natural burials. High/silver elves have family crypts (proud, powerful families only) to preserve family remains in the belief that those who come later can benefit from them in ways not yet perfected. So it's a sort of seed bank for future descendants.#Realmslore
