Why does there seem to be so little love for magic weapons that AREN’T swords? 13 magic items that are sword only, most of which could easily be other weapons per RAW. No Flametongue Greataxe or Vorpal Glaive option beyond DM fiat?Simplicity really, so you can roll on table and get an item. No balance behind it – swap weapon types as you wish.

If I may, it seems to be all about the number of people who use swords as weapons. Look at Game of Thrones or any Movie or TV Series of similar genre… Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean… Most characters use swords. Most PC’s use swords. Most classes that are melee centered use swords. If you look at it from the crafters perspective if you make a magic sword you’re going to have more potential buyers the say making magic hammers and axes.
