I think, looking back, the #1 reason I wanted to DM was because I wanted to see all the SECRETS in the module (adventure) that the players never got to see.
This says a lot about what the game was like in 1985. Adventures were full of secrets. And we WANTED to find them.

Most of the secrets were….secret doors. You’d catch glimpses of the non-repro blue map and it just drove you crazy wondering what was in there. I've talked about this before, but I'm not sure I really appreciated how MUCH I was motivated by this desire to KNOW ALL THE THINGS.
