@TheEdVerse One of my players is a Conquest Paladin/ Warlock with his patron being Zariel. They’re running WD:Dragon Heist.
Would Zariel order, warn, or in any way tell this Paladin/Warlock who serves and seeks to win her favor to not interfere with the Cassalanter’s affairs? This is more of a question of the politics of hell I guess. Would Asmodeus get upset at Zariel if her minion got in the way of his plans? Would there be consequences? Would she worry about preventing that.

If I was DM, Zariel would not warn, for more entertainment plus test of the warlock PC. Asmodeus wouldn’t get upset, because most tools (pawns/mortals/PCs and others) are flawed, and fail…and again, entertainment lies in seeing their tangents and screwups. But.. 2)
…Asmodeus would take steps, calmly, coldly, and ruthlessly. Not upset, because expecting underlings and dupes to make mistakes. Steps taken would be to send other underlings and dupes to deal with mistake-making pawns (PCs).

Larry was my favorite painter growing up. His red dragon painting was the reason I got the Red Box Basic set as a kid and taught myself how to run Dungeons & Dragons games. His covers were the same reason I started reading the Dragonlance novels without even knowing what was in them. Coincidentally years later it would be Margaret Weis who would introduce me to him and convince him to find time in his busy schedule to take a commission from me to commemorate my character Arkhan the Cruel’s ascension into D&D canon. I asked Larry to paint Arkhan as if he was a Dragon Highlord from the Dragonlance novels and if this was a lost cover of one of the novels. What you see before you is a lifetime in the making and a dream come true. THANK YOU LARRY FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!

I’m still confused by soul coins in Descent. I get the idea, but what makes a soul get trapped in a soul coin, instead of just becoming lemures? I understand that it could be due to defaulting on a deal, but why? Soul coins are constructed by Mammon the archdevil of greed and his servants. They take souls and bind them into the coins to use as currency and fuel instead of letting them become lemures.

Is there any sort of distinction as to why a soul becomes a coin vs a lemure? Or is it just as needs warrant? It’s an active process and a decision made by the servants of Mammon. His/their whim.

A should of greater “value” might be saved for later trade or greater torment, for example.

Keep in mind that Mammon is driven entirely by greed, so he delights in minting souls into coins.

That keeps the fuel flowing for infernal war machines, and if they need more during hot periods of the Blood War, Asmodeus might order higher production.

Say… Lulu the Holyphant has a 10 ft radius that blocks out spells of 5th level and lower. How do I have her be a companion but not be totally broken? I know her more powerful spell-like abilities are behind a time-lock of sorts, but not the spell immunity afaik Devils are smart. Lulu only has 36 hit points. If the characters are using her as a shield, she will get hit.
