In league play, we get down time days, and our players have a large amount of gold saved up. Are there any rules about building a small hut or cabin using downtime days?

I sent this to Jeremy/Chris on Twitter, but wanted to see what you guys/gals thought. My friend is leveling up her druid to level 2 and she is looking at the druidic circles that she has to choose from between the PHB, SCAG, and UA docs. She found a druid circle called The Emerald Enclave in the SCAG (pg 127), but the technical aspects of it make it sound super powerful. It states that they belong to the Circle of the Land and Circle of the Moon in equal measure. Are we to take that as you get 100% of the benefits from both circles? Am I reading that right?

    • The Enclave isn’t a circle. It is group of people. 1/2 of them are Circle of Land, 1/2 of them are Circle of Moon. It is not saying you get to be in both circles.

      • Zofi says:

Are the 3 circles in the SCAG just flavor text then and not actually options for classes like the rest of the class material does in the SCAG?

        • Zofi says:

Nevermind, I see now on the other classes it says “in addition to the options in the PHB”, but doesn’t have that on the druid section.

The wizard arcane focus lists orb, crystal, or similar items. Could a dark elf use a rapier with an orb or crystal on the hilt? I have seen wizards use a quarter staff before. Would a rapier or shortsword with crystals in the Handel work as a wizard focus. I am thinking about a duel wielding bladesinger from SCAG.

    • It’s described (in the DMG page 140) that you can use a staff focus as a quarterstaff. As far as I know it’s never officially described that you can use an orb or something in a sword as a focus, so my advice would be to discuss that with your GM.
What I do think is important to remember is that you need a free hand to cast spells if it has somatic components but no material requirements (see page 5 on the sage advice compendium https://media.wizards.com/2015/downloads/dnd/SA_Compendium_1.01.pdf ), so you might not be able to do all spells even if he allows an orb or the likes in your sword.

Personally, I would not allow it as a DM, as it allows for both spellcasting and dual wielding in a way that was never intended and thus gives unexpected advantages.

I have an issue with my wife’s character. She is a Rogue (6th) who was sent to the 7th Layer of Hell in my campaign. I had ideas for what the rest of the party could do to bring her back and in the meantime she is playing a druid they encountered with a Cyclops for a student. My wife is thoroughly enjoying the druid and wants to multiclass now when we rescue her Rogue because the rogue is PIVOTAL in the campaign. (my homebrew) My problem is that the party is now 9thlevel and they are getting ready to go rescue my wife the rogue and she wants her character back, but doesn’t want to play the druid that was prerolled, so; How can I multiclass her rogue to rogue6/Druid3 while she was in Hell? Is there something that could meld the two characters into one? I’m usually pretty creative on this stuff, but I am stuck on this detail. We play Saturday by the way.
Just for some background I played originally from 82-92 then picked it up again a few months ago.

    • Zofi says:

Off-the-wall suggestion: If the druid NPC that she is playing currently isn’t pivotal to the storyline, maybe you could do a sacrifice scenario. When the party goes to rescue her rogue, have an enemy that is the polar opposite of the druid that tries to consume her essence. In order for the druid to preserve her life, a divine force intervenes (or some other method) to transfer the remaining essence of the druid into the rogue. If you have a cleric in the party, maybe that person could tie into the event as well.

With the Great Weapon Fighting Style, do extra dice from a weapon also count for it? I.e. if you have a flamebrand, I know that you can reroll the sword damage, but can you reroll the fire damage since that’s part of the weapon itself?

    • Obama white says:

Yes, as long as the dice are from the weapon, this would also work with a smite that gives the attack more dice, and if you would get to double the dice off of a critical hit all dice are in play for that effect.
      Hope this helps

light spell from Rachel future and light from a class feature, does this mean you can have two light spells up at the same time? similar to having a Charisma based spell and a wisdom based spell they have the same name but they come from two separate sources.

    • Light has no concentration requirement, but does have the following text: “The spell ends if you cast it again or dismiss it as an action.” Therefore, regardless of source, you can’t have two instances of the Light spell in place at the same time.

I don’t know what you mean about Charisma and Wisdom – the source does not matter – if they are both concentration, you can only have one up at a time.
