My completely random research suggests that roughly 41,000 #dnd gold pieces fit into a 1-foot cube and weigh 820 pounds. Heh. We did this back in the TSR days (me convincing staff designers); the purer the gold, the heavier but SOFTER. Practical coins MUST be alloyed, or fingernails and firm handling can mar them; they'd soon be so clipped (see clipping, Wikipedia) = not be accepted at face value.

Someone might wanna check my math. This was very off the cuff. 😛 Heh. That could be a motto for my life. ;}
