This is the nerdiest nitpick of my life, but YSK that any magic ending with the suffix “mancy” refers only to magic used to predict the future.
Controlling fire, for example, isn’t pyromancy. It’d be pyrokinesis or pyroplasty.
Pyromancy would be telling the future with fire. And don't even get me fucking started on "necromancy".
Controlling the dead would *probably* be Mortemplasty or Mortemkinesis, but there's room for debate on that one. "Necro" means 'black' and so refers very vaguely to 'evil stuff' in general, and that's it.— Drew (@UchihaDrewYT) December 2, 2021
A savvy DM could use this to their advantage, though, and have amateur spellcasters use "mancy" and professional/experienced spellcasters use "kinesis" or "plasty", as an in-universe thing. It could make for a nice bit of subtle detailing.

Ha, its fine. “-mancy” in Exandria is based on the Exandrian draconic phrase “Amancia”, which means “to wield through will alone”. Its been adapted into magical studies over the many centuries to the more modern suffix.
…see how easy it is fixed? 😉

Nice. You’ve thought of everything! ^_^
Crisis averted. (Curse the odd, consistently retaught misuse of the fractured English language! Hahahaha)— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) December 2, 2021
