last night I played DND adventure league. One player kept calling me scanlan and himself grog. As much as I love critical role, I’m concerned that some players are trying to recreate the show instead of creating new stories all together. Thoughts? This happens with all forms of media. I’ve had many people I’ve played with make an “Aragorn” ranger, a “Ryu” monk, or the classic “Drizzt” drow. It can be a little frustrating. If it really bothers you, maybe emphasize the joy of originality, or try another table a bit. 😉

The fun of recreation wears off pretty quickly, where as making something unique to you can have a joy that lasts so much longer. That’s a good point to subtly convey to these kinds of players.
