Hello I am in desperate need of advice, I have an issue with some players in my dnd group and I’m not sure how to go about it, and it’s stressing both me and my dm out cause we don’t know what to do and anything my dm does only seems to make it worse. please help What might be the issue? I hope I can offer some advice.

Well they seem to have an issue with my characters…. the first character they played with was a minotaur earthbender named Alysia. Well they felt that she wasn't suited to be in the party and felt she had no storyline. When she did the dm helped me write it

The dm is my boyfriend and he's always helped me write backstory for my characters, anyway as i was in character i went off on another character who had almost gotten us killed in an explosion, that got the other players mad at me as a person because they thought i meant it irl

When i really didn't, and i explained that but they still didn't seem to believe me so they made my boyfriend cut his campaign short so we could basically restart, they seem to feel like all parties need to know eachother beforehand, so my Dm wrote another campaign that he hated

That’s a tough situation. Sounds like a lot of disparate styles and goals for the game that aren’t mingling well. There’s no golden solution, but perhaps having a real round-table talk before another campaign would help to get everyone on the same page.

Everyone had the opportunity to say what they enjoy out of RPGs, and what they want out of the campaign. Talk out differences and figure out what to expect from each other so there’s no surprises that can offend or bother others.

Express that if conflict in story comes up naturally, you’d like to explore it, but assure the group that it’s only with the intent of making amends and forge a stronger bond between characters.

Trust between players can take some time, so it requires patience on both your side and theirs. If you still aren’t having fun a ways into it, there’s the possibility that it may not be the table for you. Then you and your BF have a choice to make.

He wasn't ready to start a new campaign and was very upset about it, but it seemed like the 3 players who complained so much to make him do it didn't care, so he stopped everything and we haven't played since. The new character for the campaign my dm wasn't ready to start

You’ve certainly made concessions, and they need to now meet you half way. If they won’t, then it brings me to that previous point I made in the other response… it may not be a group for you.
