how closely does the Mournland match the borders of Cyre? It depends how you define "Cyre." At the start of the war, Cyre included what's now Valenar and Darguun. The Mournland seems a reasonably close match to the original borders of Metrol, a nation that existed before Galifar forged the united kingdom.
