Hi Mr Crawford, an acquaintance of mine tells me that since turns are only mentioned in the combat chapter, they are a construct of combat and don't happen otherwise. He implies that abilities that say "on your turn" (for example) are therefore only available in combat. Thoughts?

Turns can happen outside combat. For more information on time in D&D, see "Time" (PH, 181), which is not in the combat chapter. #DnD https://t.co/lje70IzQlD

So, bards can inspire in "normal" situations for example ? The specific point that triggered my question is the Survivor ability of the Champion. Nobody seems to agree on this. Does it still happen after the combat ?
Thanks a lot for all the enlightening pieces of wisdom 😉— Etienne Ripoche (@EtienneRipoche) March 22, 2018
The benefit of the Survivor feature happens at the start of each of your turns, whether those turns are inside or outside combat. #DnD https://t.co/41NGGNKIJJ
