in the instance of a creature making an attack that says it can choose to grapple instead of dealing damage does it follow the same rules as in the player’s handbook (contested check) or does it automatically grapple on hit? Ex: VampIt depends – in that case, the vampire can grapple the creature in place of dealing damage
