I’M NOT A DUNGEONS&DRAGONS DESIGNER, I reply if I have a right answer but my answers are not official.
I’m just a librarian that collects and study designer answers.

If they can’t even hit your party then I would recommend giving your monsters small magic weapons and magic shields . At the same lvl or just under your party. That would bump there AC and there ability to hit. And with the teapons being of a kind the player’s wouldn’t use, or be not as strong .they wouldn’t get anything other than exp and good coins for selling off the items.and the fight would feel like it was harder and not boring.
Another thing would be to give the more intelligent monsters potions to drink as the fight begins.
My recommendation is potion of invoneribility . Give resistance to all dmg.
And there are such things as anti magic zones.
Things like that in my opinion arnt “picking” on casters it’s making them think outside the box. Like maybe o ly the interns is an antimagic zone, but they have to get past the frunt ranks to get out of it. Making them communicate with the fights to make a path for them to be able to use there magic.

With regard to the latest update to the Mystic (as posted on DMs Guild), Psionic Resilience grants temporary hit points equal to the Mystic’s Intelligence modifier on each of his turns. Are these cumulative or do they just replace any that have been used? For example, with an Intelligence of 18, that would be +4 temporary hp per turn. Does that mean if the Mystic did not take any damage that turn, would he start his next round with 8 temporary hp?

    • No, temporary hit points do not normally stack.

See the rules for Temporary hit points (page 198 PHB), I’ll quote:
“Healing can’t restore temporary hit points, and they can’t be added together. If you have temporary hit points and receive more of them, you decide whether to keep the ones you have or to gain the new ones.”

We are playing now… With the spell animate dead, are there any rules on being able to heal your currently summoned undead?

    • According to RAW there’s nothing that stops you from using healing magic on a undead creature (unless the spell/feature describes otherwise such as with “Channel Divinity: Preserve Life”)

  4. I love the UA Artisan class. Guns are cool, magic guns are cooler, bow ties are coolest. It seems to me that this class balances a lack of damage or other utility with amazing crafting skills. But, the rules for crafting are rather lacking. I’ve found a number of homebrew options that are excellent. When I saw your site, though – I knew you were the guy to ask.

What are your thoughts on Artisan crafting? Should the companion and wondrous items be the only real ‘inventions’, or should imagination fuel a steampunk wonderland of contraptions?

How do you deal with crafting in games? X GP per day potential until value of item is met or craft each component, submit a design, and hope it all comes together? I imagine the answer is in the middle, but I would love to read your thoughts.

    • In layman’s terms, Suggestion gives someone some kind of “order” they try to fulfill. You can tell someone to go to sleep, but if they are not sleepy they couldn’t follow your command.

Does the Mage Slayer Feat give a character advantage on saving throws against his/her own spells?

The third part of the Mage Slayer Feat says: “You have advantage on saving throws against spells cast by creatures within 5 feet of you. “.
My question is: Am i within 5 feet of myself?

Let’s say i do cast a Fireball centered on myself. Due to a Wild Magic surge or willingly, because i’m standing in the middle of a Horde of Enemies. Does the Mage Slayer Feat now grant me advantage on my saving throw against my own Fireball spell?

    Thank You!

    Greetings,

I am a DM and currently running a VTT 5e game. I have been playing since the early 80’s. I do not recall very many rules or details handling mounts, mounted combat, pets such as a war dog, or blood hounds. Also the rules for or about familiars are vague. I have seen a few third party sources and a small section on these topics in very few products over the years… Can we get an entire book or add on product complete with artwork, rules for care, handling and various uses for said pets? I think it would be a valuable, interesting, and way to monetize an important aspect of fantasy gaming.

My idea would be a section about horses and beasts of burden. A section about canines, including the Kooshee (elven dog breed), and exotic pets and mounts sections. A section about mounted combat, training, and other table statistics, like weight capacity, speed, stamina, and training ability or intelligence. Also a small section about famous or familiar pets from different gameworlds past, maybe an Dex, etc…

    Aaron

PS. I would by a supplement like this for around 30 dollars. Oh yeah, BTW, have Shelly Manzanoble help with the horses sections… LOL.
