I’m sharing today that I’m leaving Fandom and D&D Beyond in the next couple of weeks. Starting @DnDBeyond, forming the team, watching it grow, and engaging the community has been a true honor. I leave celebrating what we have accomplished and look forward to what’s ahead for DDB. I can’t yet go into detail yet about my next adventure, but it will feature more moving and shaking in the TRPG space and I can’t wait for it!

I have decided to leave D&D Beyond/Fandom as host and creative manager. Tomorrow will be my last day. Today I announced that I’m leaving D&D Beyond/Fandom. I’ve been so incredibly blessed to have joined this amazing group of people, and have the chance to help so many play D&D, that I cannot thank my colleagues and my community enough for all the joy! I can’t talk about what I’m doing next YET, but I promise you I’m excited! Today is bittersweet, the end of a long running campaign I have loved and will always treasure. But it’s time for a new adventure. And I can’t wait to share that story with you all!

“The road goes ever on and on…”
Though one adventure comes to a close, countless more beckon from the horizon. I can’t wait to tell you about what’s next. hello everyone and uh welcome to builds
character
and certainly the last one with me if
you haven’t heard
i will be leaving d d beyond and fandom
uh starting tomorrow uh my
wonderful community manager lauren urban
and one of my best friends has
is also leaving uh d d beyond and as
is adam bradford and i just wanted to
take a moment
because uh i have loved doing all these
shows
for you for so long to talk about
how thankful i am to the d d community
for
always being there for being so
overwhelmingly
overwhelmingly positive and having such
a
dramatic effect on my life and all our
lives
um it has been an
absolute dream come true for me
it is not an exaggeration in any way you
know d
uh since i was a kid changed my life i
it gave me a place to escape you know
when school was rough
or if you just want to have fun and slay
some dragons with your friends
um you know it helped me when i had pt
you know ptsd and it helped me like take
a moment and get a break from myself
i see how d d helps all these people in
very similar ways
it helps you bond with other people to
form friendships to go on these
amazing adventures in your mind that you
will remember for the rest of your life
and that’s why it’s my favorite art form
it’s my favorite hobby like i
i there’s nothing i’d rather be covering
there’s nothing i’d rather be talking
about
than d d because it’s an art form that
everyone is invited
to play and share together and i just
have never experienced anything else
like that in my life not in film not
even an intel
television um
and so i’ve been very thankful to ever
have worked on
d d beyond before that dungeon life
when i did documentary series on dnd and
to all the amazing creative staff over
at d d
for their never-ending kindness um

and again mostly to this you know to
this entire community that we form
together
i i am just shocked by how positive and
kind people are on a daily basis
and how much people are willing to reach
out and help each other
and i think that’s because of this game
and because of that
kind of covenant of tabletop is that you
are with your friends
there is a social contract you
you’re trying to help each other out and
you’re trying to have fun
and laugh and cry and because you’re
used to doing that
for fun i think that makes you a more
tight-knit
community because of that and so
it’s just been my honor to be able to
interview people who are
so talented they’ll never understand
like mackenzie diaris
uh h.t paladin chronicle bard
b dave walters the entire staff of
critical role matthew mercer
um i i’m gonna miss
people who i’ve interviewed and and
like you the folks at web dm
interviewing even my own friends like
lauren irvin and james hake
uh these are all just tremendously
talented people
in this community and
you’ve made it for me tk johnson because
we like creepy stuff
you know lisa penrose hannah rose
um i don’t want to do the oscar speech
thing where i name everyone in the
community because that’s impossible but
like
you know everyone at d4 everyone that
rivals um
just consistently amazing positive
voices
uh in this community and mark humes who
uh i gotta tell you i was at a party i
felt very awkward like i was the
one person that shouldn’t be there and
then mark went right up to me
and it felt like kindergarten uh when
one kid sees another kid who’s like
really insecure and like picks you out
and decides that okay we’re going to be
friends now
um and that’s kind of the group that we
have
i think and i don’t want to go around
around
circles but i am very privileged for all
of this
i am excited for what’s going to come
for 2021 for all of
these people um i think this is going to
be a better year
and i i think great things are in store
for a lot of my friends and watching
them succeed has not been one of the
single best
parts of uh doing this job
so uh thank you so much for watching
oh always gets you i i man i am always
the one to cry i guess i guess i’m just
that guy
