What would be a useful & level-appropriate magic item reward for a level 3 Circle of the Moon druid?
+1 weapons are useless in wild shape combat, same with +1 armor.

A ring of some type in the form of a piercing or other jewelry that can reasonably function on a Wild Shape form, or something with utility worth having despite Wild Shape, like an immovable rod or a weapon of warning.

Yeah, ring of protection +1 would be good, especially considering how bad the AC usually is in wild shape, thanks. Rings of protection are a pretty boss item, that'd be delightful I'm sure. +1 to AC and saving throws is A Thing.

The Ioun Stone of Protection pretty much does that, I guess that’s the easier option.
Know of anything that would be the equivalent of a +1 (to hit & DMG) weapon but for wild shape? Insignia of Claws from Hoard of the Dragon Queen. +1 to hit and damage with unarmed strikes and natural weapons, and are magic weapons. Wondrous item, uncommon. doesn't require attunement.
