You should honestly be checking in with your players after every session.

Something I don’t love about “session 0” as terminology is how it implies that safety can be fully handled before the game begins. Safety is a practice and a process. Just to add to this practice and process point, a ref should have tools in place so players can check-in (or out) during a session if need be. Players including the ref.
