Planning a bunch of Variant/Custom rules for the next set of D&D Campaigns I run, as well as re-evaluating ones I already use.
Key areas;
– Death & Dying
– XP/Advancement
– Encouraging Downtime
– Revised Inspiration
– Adventuring Complications (Encumbrance, Equipment loss). Still figuring a lot of it out but getting there!And, before anyone tells me "just play another system" don't waste your time or mine. 😛 I know what I'm doing and if I wanted to play something else, I would.

I like XpToLvl3’s death saves rule, where the DM rolls for death saves and only the person they’re rolling for gets to see the roll, encourages the other players to actually try to help downed pcs and instills a sense of urgencyNot so much a worry with my guys. They tend to rush to save folks regardless of the rolls. But I do like the idea of rolling in secret purely for DRAMA.

What don’t you like about Death and Dying as is, out of curiosity? Bunch of stuff really. No consequence to dropping to 0 hp multiple times in an encounter. No player agency over their characters destiny (some players really dont want to lose their characters). Resurrection being a minor obstacle for mid-high level characters (per RAW).
