Important question for my Tal’Dorei in regards to the Raven Queen. When someone enters the pool in Vasselheim to meet with her: are they actually transported to her domain or is it more of a vision? A DM is welcome to interpret it either way! I myself consider it more of a vision/communion, but either could be interesting.

Critical Role
Exandria is the name of the world on which most events of Critical Role take place. Tal’dorei and Wildemount

Would it be possible for one of the surviving kids from the Dread Emperor to remember that Plane?
Quick question Mr. @matthewmercer . Would it be possible for one of the surviving kids from the Dread Emperor to remember that Plane? In theory creating this young kid who grows and studies about traveling back there and potentially re-emerge Craven Edge to the material plane?

That sounds like a very solid plot hook, and very much possible!

Every six months or so, I see discussions pop up defending Critical Role from people saying it “isn’t real D&D”
Every six months or so, I see discussions pop up defending CR from people saying it “isn’t real D&D”. (Mind you, I don’t see most of the instigating statements, which might mean I have the right people muted…?)
Regardless, the whole premise of this argument is hilarious to me.
— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) January 12, 2019
First off, who are you to define what is real D&D? What makes your narrow, personal experience so unilaterally qualified to make that judgement regarding a game that is designed to create wholly unique experiences at every table?
— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) January 12, 2019
Second off, if it isn’t how YOU play D&D, that’s completely awesome! There are SO many ways to play, and our game is in no means an instruction manual. If there are elements of it you like, feel free to incorporate them! If not, then hells yeah, make your games uniquely your own.
— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) January 12, 2019
The kind of games I run are based on my life experience of playing and GMing for maaany different people and friends over the years, and I still tailor elements toward each group’s specific personalities and interests. Some are RP heavy, some Dungeon Delve heavy, some a mix.
— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) January 12, 2019
CR’s group is a narrative-loving party of people who live a life of playing characters as actors. We’ve been that way since playing at home, and it’s only gotten better as our friendships grew closer, and our comfort to explore stories together deepened.
— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) January 12, 2019
Now, expecting a table to start there, GM AND players, is setting yourself up for disappointment and is fundamentally preventing you from creating what could be your own amazing, completely different and more incredible experience with the friends there. I’ve spoken on this lots.
— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) January 12, 2019
Thirdly, every time I see someone shouting “It’s all scripted!” or “They rehearse story beats!”, etc… all I can say is Thank You for the astronomical compliment. I may be a bundle of insecurities, but those always pick me up. <3
— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) January 12, 2019
Overall, I guess I’m just saying not to worry yourselves over it. I know the urge to stand up for something you like, but their opinion has literally no bearing on your happiness. It only feeds the fire of needlessly tense discourse.
— Matthew Mercer (@matthewmercer) January 12, 2019
For the folks who for some reasons hate us/me for playing our game and are so actively shouting into the wind, I hope we get a chance to sit down, talk a bit, and learn how much more we have in common than you may know. Maybe roll some dice together. I look forward to it. 😉

Can a Runechild just sit for a min out of combat and charge his runes without wasting Sorcery Points?
I’ve been rereading the Tal’Dorei CS. Looking at the playable subclasses you have there (which are great by the way), and I have a question for ya, can a Runechild just sit for a min out of combat and charge his runes without wasting Sorcery Points..? Not as intended. Errata for now would have you only able to charge runes via Flexing Casting once per short rest.

Tal’Dorei I’ve planned for a nordic setup in souther neverfields, do you feel it’s adequate to have some town in that region?
hey matt, I’m going to run a long campaign in Tal’dorei! I planned for a nordic setup in souther neverfields, do you feel it’s adequate to have some big and small towns in that region or is it mostly a non habitable area for humanoids? It’s totally doable! Feel free to customize and add whatever you like! It does grow more dangerous/uninhabitable by people in the north, so Southern Neverfielda sounds great. Also, note that Othanzia is a great cultural origin for Nordic flavor in Exandria.

Tabaxi: could you tell me the most common places the exsist in Tal’Dorei?
I am working on a tabaxi character for a taldorei campaign anyway you could tell me the most common places the exsist in your world In Tal’Dorei, the most common place would be the jungles if Rifenmist.

Tal’dorei campaign guide makes mention of a bard called the White Duke. Is that an homage to David Bowie?
The Tal’dorei campaign guide makes mention of a master bard called the White Duke. Is that an homage to David Bowie 🙂 It was indeed. <3

If one was wanting to run Tomb of Annihilation, how could I incorporate and adapt it into the Tal’Dorei setting?
if one was wanting to run Tomb of Annihilation, how could I incorporate and adapt it into the Tal’Dorei setting? Any pointers would be super helpful!! Consider setting it in the Rifenmist Jungle, replacing the southern side of the continent. OR, have Chult appear to the immediate South if Tal’Dorei.
