A simple question … a wizard or bard cast polymorph spell on himself … and becomes a beast of low intelligence, maybe 1 or 2 …

My question is this: can that wizard or bard finish his concentration at will at any time?

I understand that yes, but I give an example. With this intelligence I could not carry out complex strategies, and for that same reason, imagine that we are in the middle of a battle, and that strategically we are against a creature with which it would be more efficient to return to our normal form (to heal a fallen ally, or maybe our attacks are not very efficient against our enemy in this form of beast, or another similar situation)

Could our wizard or bard finish the concentration of the spell at any time? or interpretively should I act like a beast of int 1 or 2 would do and act with basic tactics of threat and attack?

    Thx in advc

The rule of thumb for things like that are usually when you cast the spell you already have an intent in mind and you still recognize your comrades and enemies as being such. You would know that you are maintaining concentration on the spell at an instinctual level, such is the training that you have gone through to be able to master set spells.
As far as the fight developing and new ways your understanding of things after you transform would be harder for you to comprehend. But if you had a goal and mind and a strong intent when you originally cast the spell you would be able to continue with what the intent was to do.
Something like the goal of the spell being to infiltrate the other side of a door or barrier by becoming a small enough creature that could get through small spaces. Or possibly Frank around behind and know that you would need to change back after you finished what you intended to do.

A player character that would roll for stats and end up with a 3 in their intelligence would still know their abilities in what they could do. It’s just your mod for those skills in that form would be basically the same idea.

Hello, I’m subscribed to receive emails about these posts, I’ve noticed I have not gotten any since Tuesday, do i have to resubscribe?

      Epic Gus
My advice is to find an alert tool online that notify when new posts on this page because subscription is not longer working for new subscribers due to the GDPR european rules: too much complexity for an hobby site like mine.
      Sorry for the inconvenience

Hello guys a simple clarification cause i cant find in anywhere.
Some Monsters have many options they can choose from that can do in their turn. Lets take for example Iron Golem that has multiattack and Poison Breath. Now my question is if poison breath is charged can it use it and then use his action to attack, or if he uses his poison breath that is his action?

    • Saxononyx says:

The poison breath is his action. You get to choose 1 and only one of the listed actions for each action the monster gets.

What would the damage be if you were to drop a 1000lbs boulder on an enemy from 60ft up? I can’t seem to find a clear answer to work out the damage. I’m looking to try and combine Telekinesis with Time Stop for some good damage.

I’m also wondering if you know whether or not you can gather up rubble with Telekinesis or single objects?

One simple question! Sanctuary spell. A creature that has the sanctuary spell on it….. I design it as my target….. i fail the Wisdom saving throw, so i can’t attack him….. the attack is wasted? or no? can i attack other creature adjacent to me with that attack? If there are no creatures adjacent to me, can I use my movement and then attack another creature with that attack?

I think that the attack is not wasted, since not even an attack roll has been made, and I can usually designate another creature as target, without the attack being wasted, using the rule of breaking movement.

The spell does not say anywhere that the attack is wasted if you fail the saving throw.

    Thx in advance

I have a question about spell slots. I am running a campaign and have a level 1 cleric in my party. He has 20 Wisdom, and so using the formula he should be able to prepare 6 spell slots worth of spells. At level 1 I imagine that means he just has 6 level 1 spells prepared. As he levels up however, he will have to divvy up his prepared spells between different spell levels. How would you go about this?

    • Rober_lpgc says:

It’s simple, you can prepare a total equal to equal to your Wisdom modifier + your
Cleric level (minimum of one spell), no matter the level of the spell.

As an example, as cleric level 5 you could prepare 10 spells. You could prepare 1 of level 1, 4 of level 2 and 5 of level 3. Or any preference you want, but the total spells must be equal to 10 spells.
