@JeremyECrawford @ChrisPerkinsDnD How do you pronounce Otyugh?

@Tyger_BryteI get that need to balance a companion, but I think you should allow for pets in the game, regardless of class. (1/2) giving everyone access to pets and not trying to stack pet + PC = 1 PC is my preferred way to handle it. treat as extra PC

@JeremyECrawford I am searching inventors to base my Tinker Gnome creations. Leonardo da Vinci and Tesla arise in my mind. Any suggestions?

I recommend looking up some of the stories of automata in ancient Greece. Very fanciful stuff. https://t.co/QrneWcHMnP

@RChiesa07 fictional – Tony Stark
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) August 13, 2015
@RChiesa07 I'd try Archimedes then – he invented a giant claw to destroy ships and a solar powered death ray.

@manofmysteryrmthe DMG custom monster rules confuse me. How do you calculate the offensive CR of an ability like gelatinous cube’s engulf it's more art than science, but as a rule of thumb I'd halve any future damage that can be avoided with a check or save
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) August 11, 2015
@manofmysteryrm for something like the cube, its final CR quite likely owes more to playtesting than applying offensive and defensive CR
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) August 11, 2015
@manofmysteryrmwhat do you mean by future damage? Ongoing effects like the engulf, or future as in how you calculate damage now on?
damage I might take because of something a critter did, but on my turn I have the chance to act to avoid it

@Fred_Kadet @JeremyECrawford can a Gold Dragon(with Shapechange feature) change into an Archmage with the Spellcasting feature?
shapechange specifically says you don't get class features, but the NPC appendix is kind of shaky on that.
— Mike Mearls (@mikemearls) August 11, 2015
@Fred_Kadet @JeremyECrawford in my own campaign, I'd be OK with it

@ChrisPerkinsDnD Any kids D&D? Or suggestions to make fun for kids? My nephews are 9&7 and want to play. I'm not experienced at being a DM.

@JeremyECrawford In your opinion, could a wizard that's tied up (but not gagged) cast Misty Step to free himself? Up to DM?
— Simon Lantz (@Shippendale) August 24, 2015
It's up to the DM. I'd say you could teleport out of bonds that are fixed to a wall or the like. https://t.co/N2mLg18TbL

@Tyger_BryteAlso, clarification question: Spirit Companion, once per day or once after every short rest? summon once per day, use ability once per short rest
