just curious about your thoughts on what people have dubbed the “Mercer effect” in regards to d&d. Players new to the game because of Critical role expect all DMS to manage their games the way you do with the voices and expensive terrain. I believe there are some who will walk in with some expectations, but that’s also kind of dickish. I’ve been very vocal about how each table and level of experience is different. Look at our “terrain” in the early episode of Campaign 1, haha!

I’ve been doing this for over 20 years, so to assume others will less experience or different ways to run their games really points a spotlight on how unfair your expectations were. That’s a player fault.
