@ChrisPerkinsDnD if you have the possibility to use ONE monster from any 5e official book as a character race, which one would it be? And why? No CR or size restrictions. Also tagging @Dan_Dillon_1 @JamesIntrocaso @SageAdviceDnD @JeremyECrawford @MTBlack2567 @Alphastream

A dire troll with a headband of intellect In the last 3e Eberron campaign I played in, I played an ogre who found a headband of intellect after he and his buddies wiped out an adventurer camp, and learned warfare from the books they had that he could now read. 😂
In 5e he’d be a Battlemaster for sure

Hmm, tough to decide.
If it wasn’t limited to 5E, I’d be sorely tempted to say Ibixians / Goatfolk or Bariaurs – the latter would be great to bring back with some new Planescape content.
For currently statted 5E monsters, I’m tempted to pick another Planescape favorite, Modrons, although they’re admittedly a bit niche.
I also find myself drawn to Revenants, although they -technically- are playable if your DM allows old Unearthed Arcana materials.
Thri-Kreen are also tempting, in much the same vein as Bariaurs, just with a return to the Dark Sun setting rather than Planescape.
But ultimately, I think have to go with the Giff – they’re just way too much fun.
