Dungeon Master's Guide: "Assuming typical adventuring conditions and average luck, most adventuring parties can handle about six to eight medium or hard encounters in a day." 🤣

Has anyone even tried doing 6 to 8 adventures between long rests? How do you even obtain such monster saturation in most places? In our 1-20 campaign we easily hit 6-8 encounters in most session, not all of them combats, usually, but our record was 13.
That was a dungeon setting and we happened to be really dialed in that night.

#dnd tip for adventure design: this quote? So important in terms of adventure creation–it is germane to the type of campaign/game you run. Is resource management important to your game's drama? Very important to remember. Running a different kind of game? Important to ignore! https://t.co/9qIa2PAUJ9

Not since the days of 1e have I thrown that many encounters against a party in one game day. Most will have 1-3. I struggle to imagine how one could have fun and progressive stories and have to deal with slogging through 8 encounters a day.
Doesn’t sound fun to me, player or DM. It's certainly doable, and can even be fun, but one has to understand pacing and story beats. And even then, it's not how everyone wants to play. And if you are going to only have 1-3 combats and want characters to feel threatened esp. at high levels, different design is needed.
