Why is Chaotic Neutral the best alignment? Per pg. 105 in the 3.5e Player's Handbook:
"Chaotic neutral is the best alignment you can be because it represents true freedom from society's restrictions and a do-gooder's zeal."

This is the epitome of sloppy gaming and bad roleplaying. Alignment guides your roleplaying so there is no “best alignment.” Typically when folks claim chaotic neutral, it’s because they are chaotic evil but don’t want to own up to that. “I want to do whatever I want because I feel like it” is a chaotic evil point of view.
