IMO new players are more confused about the proficiency bonus and where to add it. Many completely forget it. I agree there are LOTS of pain points that could be smoothed out. Inspiration vs Bardic Inspiration trips up folks. Level and spell level. I was just talking about one.

These are really simple fixes that I don’t know why they haven’t happened yet,
Inspiration is too similar to Bardic Inspiration? Why not turn “Inspiration” points into “Ingenuity” points? Same thing, less confusing overlap.
Levels and Spells Levels confuse people? Make it Levels and “Spell Tiers”.
A whole hell of a lot of things could be made so much simpler if WoTC just took the time to rename something and rephrase others.
