#TTRPG GM tip: v.
“What’s this NPC’s name?”
“I don’t know. You tell me.”
Follow-up tip: Reserve the right to veto so your NPC doesn’t get stuck being called Buttface.#DnD #RPG #TRPG

People seem hung up on the name example, which is just that. I use this technique when players ask what the inn serves for dinner, how many people attend the town hall meeting, and what’s over the next hill. The more you do this, the more natural (and fun) it becomes. https://t.co/oyQxn0C6Ja

If the players get comfortable with this, it can also be a way to help them tell their own characters’ stories. “How many people are at the town meeting?” becomes “Who is at the town meeting that surprises you, because they are a person from your past?”
