I put my friends and their PCs up against a Nightwalker in the ethereal realm. I knew and they knew that someone wouldn’t make it back but we were still unprepared for the feels it brought when they won the fight but lost a PC. How do you handle the grief of that? It’s tough, and you need to gauge how ready your players are for it, but often ensuring you all get to have an after-game wake (get drinks/dinner after and reminisce/talk about it) helps a lot
