#dnd tip for writers: all damage in 5e is typed. Nothing does "10 points of damage." It is bludgeoning, piercing, radiant, necrotic, etc. Also, write it as "12 acid damage" instead of "12 points of acid damage." Have a great gaming weekend!

Technically incorrect! There is a rare instance of damage described as “losing hit points” which occurs from bleed effects (such as a bearded devil) that has no associated type, while still technically considered damage as described in the feature. (Sorry had to) Thank you for pointing out the exceptions.
