Maybe @mikemearls or @aquelajames The wording on the new Guild Spells from Backgrounds on the Guildmaster’s Guide to Ravnica is a bit confusing to me. More specifically, are the cantrips “added” to a spell list of a spellcaster (such as a Paladin) that doesn’t have cantrips? could help with this as well? My assumption is that a paladin would learn the cantrips from a Guild spell list, but it could be argued that the cantrips are only learned by spellcasters who have cantrips on their spell lists.

You don’t gain the ability to cast canttips. Even if they’re on your spell list, no class feature allows you to learn them. #wotcstaff
