When I look back, I realize that I’m old (and lucky) enough to have played all D&D editions and several big/small press offshots. When I ask myself “which was my favorite?” I realize its “Whichever time I had a fuckton of fun” and that’s pretty edition-independent Fun is rules independent for me, too. (For D&D and lots of other games.) It's only when the rules impede the fun that a problem arises.
