The text of the module is fairly clear, when the Arcanolth is reduced to 50% it flees, only to return once it is either healed or has an opportunity. It will never leave the Amber Temple. As a Dm you can of course, make something the characters take actually be of interest to Neferon, and maybe he follows. But the text, says his intent is to guard the temple.
