I’M NOT A DUNGEONS&DRAGONS DESIGNER, I reply if I have a right answer but my answers are not official.
I’m just a librarian that collects and study designer answers.
If you need an official answer you could ask directly via Twitter to Master Jeremy @JeremyECrawford or contact sageadvice@wizards.com
How did Volo get his long life?
See the following tweet for a answer:

So he will not fall getting hit points for the fall
The target of levitate would not take fall damage from their descent when the spell ends.
While the spell is active you can raise or lower the target up to 20ft. Any damage inflicted by raising enemie into cieling/floor w/ levitate is at GM discretion. By RAW none is incurred.
If a barbarian used wreckless attack in magical darkness does it give him a regular attack instead of disadvantage?
yes-ish (see reckless attack for which rolls normally grant advantage).
See the rules for advantage/disadvantage (page 173 PHB)
If circumstances cause a roll to have both advantage and disadvantage, you are considered to have neither of them, and you roll one d20. This is true even if multiple circumstances impose disadvantage and only one grants advantage or vice versa. In such a situation, you have neither advantage nor disadvantage.
When you get unarmored movement or take the mobile feat as an Aarakocra, dose it also increase your flying speed
see: http://www.sageadvice.eu/2015/07/22/aaarakocra-monk-unarmored-movement/
Since the monk unarmored movement increases your speed, and a similar wording is used for the mobile feat I’d therefor assume it would work the same and thus all his innate speed’s are increased (which include flying)
I have two questions, and I can’t ask the designers b/c I can’t get a twitter account without giving them my phone number (grr):
1) Can you please confirm/prove that if character A loses initiative against B, A can still use a reaction during B’s first turn (e.g., Shield or the Polearm Master OA)?
2) Re the Tunnel Fighter special reaction attack, when the TF is using a reach weapon, does the TF get the special attack when an opponent moves from, say, 15′ away to 5′ away? That is, can the TF use the attack if the target did not begin its turn in range of the TF?
Thanks!
1) You can use your reaction even if it hasn’t been your turn in combat yet. Except if you are surprised!
2) Technically, no. with a reach weapon he would be within your reach at 10 feet, if he moves to 5 feet then he has moved 5 feet, the description states more then 5 feet which it didn’t do. As for the 2nd part, as long as the creature moved more then 5 feet while within your reach, you can use your reaction to make the attack, it does not state that he had to start within your reach.
Barbarian level one, and druid level three. Druid beast form and rage. Is there an order it needs to cast? Rage first and then beast or rage while in beast mode? Or can it be done in any order?
in short , yes you can rage and be a beast at the same time.
to rage doesn’t take V, or S to do so , that means you can start is as a beast.
Thanks, we are playing right now. I’ll tell the group 🙂
Can players who willingly had Water Walk cast on them choose to ignore the ability and swim downwards? Or are they pretty much trapped in the surface for the duration.
Since the spell states that it gives you the ability to walk on water, I’d assume that it is not forced but something a character can decide to do. (though if you are in a liquid when the spell is cast you are forced up whatever you want it or not).
